'One Newsroom' Training

Mediamax Network is among the leading media corporates in Kenya, with several vernacular radio stations, immensely popular daily newspaper namely People’s Daily and the award-winning television station, K24. As they were installing new equipment with tapeless workflows and wanted a unified newsroom, NDTV Worldwide spent a week at Mediamax Network, Nairobi, to train the TV, Radio, Print and Web journalists.

NDTV Worldwide proposed the ‘One Newsroom’ concept which is the newsroom of the future. Whether you call the concept the integrated newsroom, a convergent newsroom or a multimedia editorial platform, the meaning is the same. It’s about creating a single hub for all editorial decisions, and a single workflow for all stories.

NDTV Worldwide interacted closely with the editorial and operations teams of K24, People’s Daily and their website. During the training NDTV Worldwide suggested some changes in the workflow that would improve efficiency in the newsroom and would ensure timely sharing of information within the various platforms. This synergy among various units of the editorial teams and their coordination with other departments such as production, photographers, graphics etc ensured churning out of news as it happens.
